Village People 40th is a multi-year celebration
of the group and their greatest hits
2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the first recordings by Victor Willis as "Village People" -- before there was a group. The first album, Village People, featured the hits San Francisco and Hollywood. A make-shift group was quickly assembled and introduced to the world on American Bandstand.
2018 marks the 40th anniversary of Village People's second hit album titled Macho Man, also recorded by Victor Willis with professional background singers. After which, the original Village People concept by Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo was brought to fruition with auditions held by Jacques, Victor and Henri. It also marks 40 years since the release of the double-platinum Cruisin' album featuring the blockbuster hit Y.M.C.A.
2019 will mark 40 years since the release of the album Go West featuring the title track and the hit In the Navy. It will also mark 40 years since their international Go West tour.
Each successive year brings a new anniversary of great Village People music and happenings.
